FDTV was
officially started in June of 2003. In the beginning, FDTV
started out as just short movies that you could view on the internet.
The story began in 1998
when FD and his cousin Man were at home with idle time. FD, an aspiring photographer, recently purchased a still
digital camera. At the time, FD was also honing his skills in
computer graphics. FD and Man decided to go in their
backyard one day and take a sequence of orchastrated photographs. After FD
added words in between the pictures, the photgraphs would tell a short
comedy tale.
The first movie, "The
Beatdown" was complete. After watching the movie, FD and
Man went out later on that day and attempted to make the next
movie. Little did they know, this would be the start of something big.
The second movie, "Cwakhed" was complete and the 10
year old crackhead was born.
After showing the short
movies to friends and family, their response was unbelieveable. Everyone
fell in love with FD and Man's movies and encouraged them
to continue to make more.
FD and Man
continued to make these movies. FD, created a website to display
the movies to the world, but the site never got the exposure that he
wished for. At the age of 16, FD had an archive of over 15 movies
that were starting to "collect dust". Discouraged, FD
stopped making movies... the movies that everyone loved.
In May of 2003, FD's
older brother purchased a DV camcorder. FD's love for cameras
returned to him after getting his hands on this particular camcorder. FD
began learning how to use the DV equipment and invested in
non-linear editing hardware. FD and Man started to make
more movies than ever before.
FD wasn't going
to let anyone stop him this time. FD vowed that he would expose
his movies by any means possible. That was the day FDTV was
created.
FD decided to
make a DVD compilation of all of his short movies. Using his skills as a
graphic designer, FD easily utilized the DVD Authoring software
that he purchased. After months of planning, the DVD was complete.
February 2004, FD released "FDTV: Volume One" to
the world.
Throughout New York
City, FD has become a local celebrity. FD has
sold his movie to such people as Savion Glover, Dave Chappelle,
Redman, Ed Lover, Fab 5 Freddie, Jim Jones (Diplomats), Nas, Ralph
McDaniels, Mos Def, Cappadonna (Wu-Tang Clan), DJ
Whoo Kid (G-Unit), Mumz (HBO show OZ) & the list goes on.
"FDTV: Volume
One" is becoming an underground classic. This DVD should not be
missed.
